| Looking for a great florida vacation ( No Disney).......... | | My five your old son would like to spend sometime at that Nickelodeon resort in orlando, but we think that 3 nights a waterpark resort will be enough for us, any ideas on a beach resort we could drive to from orlando that is child friendly. We thought 3 nights at Nickelodeon and 3 nights at a beachfront would make us all happy. | |
| | St Andrews Bay FLorida Vacation visit | | Near Panama City Beach this is a great place to go. It is at the far east end of PCB, much quieter. They have a little nature center in the building that tells about the surrounding sea life and ways you can volunteer to help out. There is a little swamp area to look at.
The best part about the bay is the swimming area. It is surrounded on 2 sides by rocks, with the beach area on the other two sides. The water is very clear, it's like swimming in a big pool of water with sand and rocks around you, well some fish too! The dolphins play on the opposite side of the rocks and it will chase all these little schools of fish near you. I like it because my kids are safer, they aren't out in the open ocean just floating around, and I can see my feet! I know that sounds funny, but I just have this thing about my feet dangling in murky water that sharks swim in...(insert Jaws theme here)...Anyway, as a family our favorite time to go is when all the spring break people are NOT there.
If you camp there is a great campground off of middle beach road, it's not ocean front, but it is affordable. We have stayed at the Osprey, nice, family friendly and quiet, but my FAV place was when we checked... | |

| Lowery's Vacation Homes | | I booked a Lowery's Vacation home online for our florida vacation. It had been recommended by someone I know. They'd used Lowery's and had a good time. So I spent a lot of time searching for a property. Booked it online. Paid the deposit, had to wait a little over a month for the remainder to be taken out of our checking. I didn't hear anything from Lowery's. Not one word. The month goes by and the remainder wasn't taken out. I waited a week. Nothing. I call three times and get an answering machine each time. I've been scammed, right? I finally receive a phone call from them. Something was wrong and the remainder had to be taken out of checking manually. Assured that everything is ok with our reservation. They asked when we were coming in, I told her the date and time. "Ok, see ya Sunday!" I am emailed 2 receipts - one for the remainder and one for the extra $$ we paid to have our pool heated. I am also emailed a letter telling me when checkout time is and directions to the office. The Saturday before we leave, I get nervous. I know we are getting in late on Sunday. I am second guessing the office being open. I call the office and get the... | |
